About Us
The Generous Kind Community is about showing up for ourselves and our stories so that we are better able to hold space for others. We believe in the beautiful strength of both kindness and vulnerability.
We embrace the belief that we all- every single one of us- deserve to be seen, heard, and valued. We want to be known as a community in which empathy overflows.
In The Generous Kind Community we own our stories rather than being owned by them. We find our voices, some of us for the first time. Many of us are afraid to take up space in our lives and struggle to offer ourselves kindness. The Community provides safety and generous room for discovery.
The Generous Kind Community is a space built upon the belief that every person we encounter has a story, and those stories deserve to be heard and held. By hearing and holding the truth of each person’s experience, including our own, we find that at the core–in the deepest places of our human beings–we are all very much the same. Recognizing our shared humanity creates space for connection and healing within ourselves, our stories, and our relationships with others.

Each of us arrives at The Generous Kind Community door in various stages of curiosity, awakening, growth, and awareness. A few of us are seasoned truth tellers. Quite a few more of us are unsure of what we could even add to the conversation, but we’re certain of our need to surround ourselves with those who bravely voice their truth. A bunch of us are in therapy, some processing deep trauma and shame. Some of us simply want to tell our stories, to document our lives. We all long to feel less alone.
We are exhausted by the scroll of picture perfect social feeds displaying the highlight reel rather than real life, vulnerable truth. We are tired of isolation. We no longer want to feel like we’re too much and not enough, often all at once. We are done being silenced and diminished.
We are all imperfect. We are all in progress. None of us have it all figured out. We are not here to judge, to fix, to offer advice, to be a thread therapist, to diminish, to edit, to placate or to rewrite anyone else’s story for them. We recognize showing up requires us to be present, and we come seeking renewed connection to ourselves, our stories, and those on our path. The Generous Kind community is not only for writers, it’s for kind humans.

Why A Private Community?
The Generous Kind Community is a private space by design.
You've officially arrived at the platform we've chosen, known as Mighty Networks–there’s also an app you can download to connect to your Generous Friends anywhere you go. We do ask that each person send a request to join and create a free Mighty Networks account. This detail was intentional, and meant to help foster the safety we all need to risk sharing our stories. The content and members of The Generous Kind Community are not internet searchable, and it’s an ad free, creepy-spy-software-free space. The interface functions much like a social feed, but without fake news, your loud Uncle Stan, people selling you stuff, political opinions, or name calling.
